Our co-founder, Dr. Anne Fishel, Ph.D., was recently featured by CNN in a piece about the importance of family dinners. Speaking about her book, Home for Dinner: Mixing Food, Fun and Conversation for a Happier Family and Healthier Kids and her work with The Family Dinner Project, Dr. Fishel outlined a number of important benefits families can gain from having regular dinners together, including:
- Healthier eating habits
- Decreased risk of obesity
- Decreased teen risk behaviors (including drug and alcohol use, teen pregnancy and eating disorders)
- Lower incidence of depression and anxiety
- Larger vocabularies and better grades
