A Civic Season Family Picnic

Posted on: June 27th, 2024 by Bri DeRosa

The Civic Season — the period of time between Juneteenth and the Fourth of July — is a time to reflect on America’s history while taking action for a better future.

We believe that gathering for civic events and family celebrations is a powerful way to forge a sense of community and togetherness, even in the midst of a culture of division and disillusionment. Sharing a meal with others, even if you don’t see eye-to-eye on all the issues, can help build teamwork and provide a welcoming space for everyone to gather. To help set the stage for your Civic Season gatherings, we’ve designed this special Family Picnic experience with our friends at Made by Us, Challah Back Girls, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, and New American History.

Try these ideas for food, fun, and conversation this Civic Season!

There’s something for everyone in this picnic menu! With a build-your-own pasta salad, plus menu items that are welcoming to vegetarians, vegans, dairy-free and gluten-free friends alike, you can make sure everyone feels like they have a seat at the table this Civic Season.
