A photo caption contest is a fun family activity that can be done either in person or during a virtual family dinner experience!

In Person:

Ask everyone to bring old family photos to dinner. Stick them up on a board or on the wall. Pass out Post-It notes and pens, and let everyone write a funny caption to match each photo! Enjoy reading them aloud afterward and, if you’d like, vote for your favorites.

Or you can try a variation: Instead of bringing printed photos to dinner, allow people to use their phones at the table to pull up different images from their social media feeds or from the internet.

Online:

Share photos either via email or in the chat feature of a meeting platform (such as Zoom, Google Hangouts or Facebook chat — get more information and ideas in our Virtual Dinner Party Guide). Guests can then share their caption ideas for each one.
