Banana Bread

Banana bread

This delicious and easy banana bread recipe comes from my (maternal) great grandmother, Bobby. We used to make it once in awhile, but for the past 5 years or so my sister and I have prepped the batter on Christmas Eve and popped it in the oven early Christmas morning. It’s an easy and delicious breakfast for the whole family.

Ingredients

½ cup butter or margarine (1 stick), softened

1 cup sugar

3 Tbsp. sour milk (add a bit of vinegar to milk)

2 eggs

3 ripe bananas

1 tsp.vanilla

2 cup (scant) flour

1 tsp. soda

1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add sour milk, eggs, bananas and vanilla and beat.
  • Add flour, soda and salt and beat.
  • Pour into loaf pan and let rise for ½ hour.
  • Bake at 350º for about an hour, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
