Waldorf Chicken Salad

Fun

Choose an obscure word. Each person writes down what they think the definition might be. Then all are read, and everyone votes for the best!

What is your most unusual talent? Demonstrate it!

Ever heard of Oscar Tschirky? Apparently he was the the maître d’hôtel of the Waldorf Astoria  in New York City back in 1893, and the guy who created the first Waldorf salad. This wonderful version of his famous dish comes to us from our friend Jennifer Haugen, RD, LD, out in Minnesota. The most important ingredient here, we think, is the apples. Says Jen, “I prefer SweeTango, a Minnesota grown apple that’ s a cross between a Honey Crisp and a Zestar.”  But if you’re not from Minnesota, simply choose your favorite! This dish is a build your own because each person can decide if it’s served with crackers, as a  sandwich or on a bed of lettuce.
