Dinner Tonight: Budget Friendly

Dinner Tonight: Budget Friendly Shopping List: Week of December 5, 2022

Print Shopping List » Back to Your Week »

Dear Friend,

Here is your weekly meal plan and shopping list!

This week, we have several different types of cheese on the shopping list. The ziti bake calls for both Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses, while the chilaquiles and taco salad both require either cheddar or Monterey Jack. Depending on your family’s preferences and how you’d like to manage your budget, you could certainly use all one type of cheese for every recipe, which may allow you some savings.

We’ve also noted frozen mixed vegetables as a side dish for the garlic chicken on Wednesday, but if you’d prefer something else, you can make a substitution. Remember that frozen and (low-or-no-sodium) canned vegetables can be just as nutritious as fresh, so you can easily make a healthy side dish for your family using inexpensive items from the canned or frozen aisles.

On Monday, you’ll have bread with your soup. What type of bread you choose is entirely up to you. If you think you’ll have a good amount left and would prefer to serve that with the garlic chicken later in the week, instead of rice, feel free to do so. You can then omit rice from your shopping list for the week.

Please note that the recipes provided may serve different numbers of people. The shopping list is built from the recipes, so depending on the size of your family, you may need more or less of some ingredients. Remember to check the serving sizes before you shop so you can adjust your list to work for your family!
