Talking about Ferguson

At the Family Dinner Project, we know that stories in the media often enter the conversation at our schools, playgrounds and dinner tables. Last night’s decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri—and the response to that verdict—is all over the news today.

We’ve been thinking a lot about this story and how we can help you talk with children about these events. The two resources that follow represent various perspectives from people who are writing articulately about these issues. Hopefully they will be helpful. Our aim, in the end, is to help families talk about things that matter.
