A Wish to Help Others

When a 12-year-old cancer patient was given a Make-A-Wish opportunity, he went big…for other people’s benefit. While Lucas Hobbs was going through treatment for cancer, he recalls many members of the community sharing meals with him and his family. Those shared meals made a big impact on Lucas; so big, in fact, that he wanted to pass the experience along to others in need. See how he used his wish to get a food truck to help others, then use our conversation starters at your family table:

If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for and why?

Why do you think Lucas might have wished for a way to help others?

If you could do one thing to help the world, what would it be?

Have you ever helped to feed someone — whether by volunteering at a food pantry, sharing a meal, baking cookies for a neighbor, or making dinner for your family? How did you feel about that experience? Would you do it again?

Don’t forget to follow Lucas’s example by participating in our August #familydinnerforward initiative! You can find more information on our blog, or by watching our video!
